CHINESE CONTRACTOR SIGNS TENDER AWARD FOR MAJOR HIGHWAY CONTRACT IN KENYA
The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) and China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) have signed a $166m deal to construct a 453km road in the Lamu Port South Sudan–Ethiopia Transport Corridor (LAPSSET).
KeNHA Director General Eng. Peter Mundinia and the General Manager M/S China Communication Construction Company Limited have signed a tender award agreement for stage construction of the LAPSSET Development Project: Lamu – Ijara – Garissa (A10) Road and associated spur roads
The project comprises of the following road sections:
1. Lamu – Ijara – Garissa (LAPSSET CORRIDOR) – 257 Km
2. Hindi – Bodhei – Basuba – Kiunga – 113 Km
3. Ijara – Sangailu -Hulugho – 83 Km
The 453 kilometre project will be implemented at a cost of Kshs.17.9 billion, and will take 24 months to construct.
